Summary: The gamma dose rates were calculated from the results of
gamma-spectrometric measurements of radionuclide concentrations in soils in
the region of the Isrian penisula, Croatia. Calculated gamma dose rate
conversion factors(GDRCF) for external exposure above ground, give external
dose rates per unit of natural radionuclide concentration in the soil and
bedrock. The radiometric maps must take into consideration gamma doses from
soils as well as as from underlying rocks in the first metre of soil
profile. This is of crucial importance especially for carbonate
terrains.Furthermore, for soils themselves the role of the draniage network
is undoubtedly of prime importance.

Summary: Statistical treatment of selected elements included the
estimation of basic statistical parameters.Evaluation of enrichment factors
reveals the dependance of this parameter upon four main factors: the choise
of the reference element, the choise of reference material, the homogeneity
of reference material and the correlation of a particular element with the
reference element. Presuming a linear dependance between the reference
element and and the heavy metal it is possible with the use of linear
regression analysis to simultaneously define the heavy metal backgroun and
to isolate natural and/or anthropogenic outliers(anomalies).

Summary: The paper deals with the role of particulates, their
sedimentation pattern and adsorption properties in transfer of trace metals
from land to sea. The rapid sedimentation of fine grained, mostly clay
mineral particles in a small rock-bounded estuary disequlibrium salt wedge
estuary is enhanced bz flocculation process. Most of the heavy metals
accumulate in the proximity of the river mouth due to adsorption to clay
minerals.
