Summary: Various volcanic rocks different in chronostratigraphy and
petrography are very common in the area of the Sava-Drava interfluve
both on the surface and in the subsurface of the Pannonian Basin. In the
project are for the first time included all volcanic rocks and based on
geologic and isotopic ages are divided in seven chronostratigraphic
groups, i.e. the formations. On the basis of detailed mineralogical,
geochemical and petrological analytical data, each formation is
systematically elaborated and defined. This aboundant analytical data
make possible to consider the problem of geotectonic setting of
generation of magmas of the different composition and their genetical
evolution.
Keywords: geologic and isotopic ages, microprobe chemical composition, major and trace elements, stable isotopes, petrogenesis, geodynamics
Research goals: The main aim is to give a complete
geologic-geochemic-petrologic presentation of all volcanic rocks from the
area under research. It will comprise: (1) geologic and radiometric age
determination; (2) detailed rock classification; (3) major element
analyses of rock-forming minerals and representative rock types, 4) trace
element analyses and (5) stable isotope data. All collected data and their
interpretation will be presented in the form of a monography.
