Summary: The research covered dynamic seals of borehole bottom
equipment under conditions of high pressures and temperatures as well as
hydrocarbone and aggressive gases activity. The basis of research is to
form an idea of a single laboratory for all required studies and testings
of dynamic seals materials. The target of research is the analysis,
selection and adoption of production of chosen materials. A singular device
for testing said seals was built in Croatia and co-operation with potential
manufacturers (Rubber Factory "M. Čavić", Zagreb) and consummers
(INA-Naftaplin, Zagreb) factually established.
Research goals: The target was to determine materials proving
satisfactory for wear-and-tear (tribotechnical) systems defined beforehand.
As seals made of various materials are commercially produced and
recommended (KALREZ, VYTON, RYTON, TEFLON) and are further systematically
researched and developed, it is necessary for the purpose of adopting and
developing the production technology of such seals to determine the
materials purported to meet the requirements as set up and in the same way
to adopt the metodology to quantify the values of materials as selected. In
order to make such valuation comparable with world-wide research it is
necessary to perform them in terms of globally acepted criteria. The
investigations to date have ascertained the producers' potential in Croatia
and a lab setup for testing and estimating of seals manufactured along
prescriptions based on the laboratory research.
