Summary: Investigation of complex transient phenomena in electric power plant (epp) and systems (eps). The transient phenomena belong to the different time scales: from steady processes (including LFC and AGC), over transient and dynamic stability phenomena to switching phenomena. Field and laboratory testing. Mathematical models building and constitution, modelling and investigation of the main model characteristics using commercially available or own specially developed software. Design and/or implementation of desired properties and functions of control and protection equipment in eps, especially in excitation control systems for large synchronous machines by construction, commissioning and errection of new or revitalization of existing equipment, plants and systems.

Research goals: Enhancement of knowledge about complex transient phenomena inelectric power systems (EPS). Control of these transient phenomena which are as a rule on widely differing time scales.Developement of simulation mathematical models and approaches to the system identification and parameter estimation for multivariable systems. Modelling of processes and investigation of their characteristics as well as identification and estimation of so developed models, all based on results obtained from laboratory and field tests, especially of excitation control systems.
