Communication
Summary: The project comprises theoretical and experimental
investigations of dielectric characteristics of modern arc-extinguishing
and insulating media for H.V. switching devices (vacuum and SF6). Further,
it treats electric and thermodynamic arc parameters at current breaking and
in the case of internal electric arc, as well as overvoltages appearing at
switching capacitive and small inductive currents by means of vacuum
circuit-breakers. Besides, the reliability and service life, ecological
aspects, monitoring and economics of new switching types will be analyzed.
A synthesis of investigation results will provide the basis for the
development of new designs of switchgear and switching devices from 7.2 to
145 kV.
Keywords: current interuption, dielectric characteristics, electric arc, SF6 circuit-breakers, switchgear (GIS), vacuum circuit-breakers
Research goals: Elaboration of research and development
documentation for design of high-voltage switchgear from 0.2 to 145 kV
(transmission, distribution and industrial) in which new kinds of current
interruption are used with a view to increase their functionality,
reliability efficiency and ecological advantages. Scientific contributions
are expected in the following fields of investigation: - efficiency of
triple-joint shielding (conductive electrode - gas dielectric - solid
dielectric), - arc voltage at faults in gas mixtures of SF6 and N2
depending on arc length, arc current and material the electrodes are
made of, and - overvoltages that appears at switching on and off capacitive
and small inductive currents (with disconnectors, circuit-breakers and
earthing switches). Other information about the project.
