Summary: Research work is done on electromagnetic compatibility
within one, or between more communication systems, and finally between
electric traction system and other sensitive electronic systems.
Mathematical models and computer algorithms are being inaugurated, in order
to solve particular problems of electromagnetic susceptibility. Special
attention is concentrated on non-linear effects in separated elements of
the system because this problem tends to become dominant due to the vast
growth of radio communication systems. New measuring methods are developed,
or already known improved for measuring conducted or radiated
interferences. Attempt will be made to define sensitivity and resistance to
interference of certain systems, in order to determine spatial and
frequency separation between potential interference sources as also their
power levels. Studying is made on system parameters, on which depends the
figure of merit for EMC characteristics and, simultaneously the quality and
through-put of information in radio communication system. Optimization of
these parameters refering to electromagnetic susceptibility and information
rate is a specific problem for each particular system. Therefore, for some
systems it should be tried to solve this important problems systematically.
Research goals: The project is run in two directions. In the first,
the research is oriented toward the EMC problems within a system, and in
the second toward the inter-system EMC. EMC within a system refers to the
analysis of system parameters in order to increase information rate with
sufficient quality. In order to enable verification of electromagnetic
susceptibility mathematical models and algorithms will be developed.
Research will be done on specific measuring methods to verify the effect
of all relevant parameters on EM susceptibility. Research on inter-system
EMC will be oriented on getting new comprehensions on the problem of
electromagnetic susceptibility between electric train and signal-safety
and communication systems. Using analysis of electric traction vehicle as
a source and electric power lines and plants as transmission paths of
interferences, attempt will be made to define sensitivity and resistance
of signal-safety and communication systems on interferences and finally to
give some marginal values and procedure of achieving electromagnetic
susceptibility. Expected contribution would be, on one hand, in creating
general scheme for solving EMC problems, and on the other, in connecting
parameters which define EMC with parameters defining radiocommunication
system quality information rate. In research work on inter-system EMC
contribution is expected in creating models of sources, transmission paths
and receivers of interferences with the aim to enable making optimal
decision which of these three parts needs corrections in order to achive
electromagnetic susceptibility. European Community organizes COST project
on EMC in which we should be actively involved.
