Summary: Hydro-power system optimizing algorithm. Software for
network distribution planning. Functions for remote controlling of
generation and economic dispatching in electric power system. Remote
Voltage/VAR control - secondary voltage and reactive power control -.
Implementation of expert systems and artificial intelligence in poer
system control. Digital simulation of electric power system. Stochastic
model of processing information in electric power system. Relay protection
system analysis for transmission lines with regard to software, hardware
and communication. Electric locomotive influence as a special consumer in
electric power system. Insulation characteristics of mid-voltage isolators
in several different degrees of polution regard to surges. Transient
states analysis of agregates in large units ( asynchronous states,
subsynchronous resonances and torsional oscillations, stability of tube
agregates in hydro power plants). Voltage stability and voltage collapse.

Research goals: Achievement of several aims is expected from this
project: Development of procedures and softwares for determining optimal
regimes of electric power system functioning. Further development and
improvement of existing softwares in load-frequency regulation and digital
voltage/VAR control in electric power system with practical implementation.
Development of algorithms and methods for making electric power system
simulation models and their using as a training simulators in students and
operaters education at dispatching centers. Obtaining exact computation
procedure of process information relaxation times in remote control centers
and dispatcher centers in modern technical control systems and also real
defining of operating staff dynamic loading with process information in
every power system control center. Development of algorithms for
synchronous generator protection in power plants during asynchronous states
and finding more reliable method in state variable analysis from which is
determining of asynchronous state much simplier. Obtaining of computation
models in electric locomotive representation with special attention in
studying connection between 2x25 kV network and transmission electric power
system. Development of digital simulation models for subsynchronous
resonance analysis as well as torsional oscillation on agregates in large
power plants and procedure determining for experimental checking. Software
development for real time identification of transient states in hydro
units.
