Summary: Distributed real-time computer systems constitute the
integral part of contemporary production systems. They interact in a
complex way with the environment, and very often they also have a complex
internal structure. Program tasks may be distributed between different
computers. Every component has to satisfy the functionality, reliability
and time constraints. The systems integrity can be achieved by appropriate
communication and synchronization mechanism providing coherent and
predictable behavior.
Keywords: distributed system, real-time, hierarchical layered structure, coherence, flexible manufacturing systems, time-complexity of alghorithms, user interface, formal specification
Research goals: The goal of the research, as declared in the
proposal five years ago, was to develop, improve and validate the design
methodologies for particular layers in the hierarchical layer-by-layer
approach to the system design, with particular emphasis to functionality,
reliability, time constraints and distributed environment. Contributions
in the design and evaluation of algorithms for the implementation of
different subsystems were expected.
