Summary: In addition to reasoning based on heuristic rules,
secondgeneration expert systems have also the ability of reasoningbased on
the system model. The paper describes a causal model ofan engineering
system given in the graph form. BOTTOM_UP andTOP_DOWN algorithm for model
based problem solution and deepreasoning is given. Next, a procedure of
optimal examination isdescribed. At the and, the learning component, i. e.
thegeneration of new production rules, created as a result of causalmodel
examination is dealt with.

Summary: The paper deals with classification procedure which is the
basis of the classification process for student admission in the first form
of secondary schools. The procedure provides a unified and optimum
classification. The possibility of generalization of this method and its
application in employment agencies, centers for student standard of living,
centers for social security, humanitarian aid, etc., is discussed.
