Summary: The nonratchetting condition for reversed plasticity is established for an elastic-perfectly plastic solid body subjected to cyclic/steady loads such as to produce plastic shakedown (i.e. alternating plastic strains take place within one part of the body and elastic shakedown within other part). In one example this condition is used to determine the plastic shakedown boundary.

Summary: This work shows a numerical procedure for lateral vibrationanalysis of rotor in hydrodinamic joural bearings. Developedprocedure is based on finite element method. Rotor is modelledwith shaft finite elements, rigid disc finite elements andelements representing the influence of bearings. Tapered beamfinite element for shaft modeling has been developed, taking intoaccount shear deformation, gyroscopic effect, rotary inertia andaxial load. Stiffness and damping coefficients of the wholecircular journal bearings are calculated using Galerkin's method. The application of developed numerical procedure is illustratedby examples. Results show strong influence of the fluid-filmforces on vibrational behaviour of rotors.

Title: VIBRATIONS OF NON-LINEAR MECHANICAL SYSTEMS
Faculty: Fakultet strojarstva i brodogradnje Sveučilište u Zagrebu
    Date of defense: 01/20/94
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 93
Summary: Forced vibration of a single-degree-of-freedom system witha piecewise linear force-displacement relationship is analysed.Parametric analysis is applied, using the method of harmonicbalance. The method of harmonic balance is approximative andlimited to consideration of steady-state frequency response forprimary resonance only. Obtained results are validated by using a piecewise lineartechnique, which includes effects of superharmonics andsubharmonics in a response. The existence of superharmonics andsubharmonics and their effect on the time domain response is verified using Fourier transformation. By comparing the results obtained by these methods, it isestablished that both methods give very similar results in thedouble-sided frequency ranges, which were predicted by the methodof harmonic balance. By analysing the time-domain responses in these frequency ranges, it is established that the assumptionof dominance of primary resonance in response is satisfied, underwhich the use of the method of harmonic balance is based.
Keywords: nonlinear vibrations, piecewise linear characteristics, harmonic balanse method, piecewise linear technicque
