Summary: Investigation of wear mechanismes of metallic materials with the microscopic approach. Studying of tribological systems with predomimant wear mechanismes of abrasion-adhesion-fatique wear-corosion. Investigation of grey cast irons and steels in lubricated sliding using pin-disk test machine and four-ball test machine respectively. SEM observations of worm surfaces. Investigation of the reliability of white irons in a field test as a function of their laboratory measured abrasion resistance and dynamic fracture toughness.

Research goals: In this investigations it is aimed to study the wear rate as afunction of wear mechanismes of metallic materials in varioustribological systems. The following wear mechanismes should bestudied: (a) abrasion-adhesion-fatique wear corrosion in lubricatedsliding of grey cast irons and steels; (b) severe abrasion of white irons caused by hard mineralparticles. It is expected that these studies will enable a deeper insightinto the mechanismes of wear and the optimization of investigatedmaterials.
