Summary: Production preparation oragnization modelling in
shipbuilding should provide for the most efficient production management by
acting upon the plans of all levels having precisely defined tasks, terms
and control points. The new model of production preparation organization
has been analysed and proposed from the standpoint of information flows and
of its contribution to shipbuilding. The main feature of the new
organization model would be the almost complete automation, meaning that
the production preparation might, in the future, dispose with the modern
digital computers for processing, analyse and presentation of data, and for
comunication with the environment as well as with other systems in the
shipbuilding process.

Research goals: The aim of the project is to research for the
efficient model of production preparation in shipbuiding from the
standpoint of information flows. In this connection the known methods of
production preparation organization will be applied or the existing ones
will be improved. The research aims to evaluate the existing models and to
propose the new, more efficient model of production preparation capable of
ensuring: - faster and more rational realization of the production
process, - productivity increase, - reduction of production costs,
- product quality improvement, - meeting of the up-to-date
requirements of ship construction - reduction of time from design till
start of production, - reduction of time from the receipt of order till
delivery.
