Summary: The scientific project comprises a throught analysis of the present situation concerning the transport in Croatia, as well as that in this part of the Continent and Mediterranean. It recommends methods and trends of directing the development of the transport infrastructure by using the comparative geo-transport advantages of Croatia. It analyses and directs the development of various branches of transport, together with their complementary parts, comprising the System, as a whole.

Research goals: The scientific resarch of the Croatian transport system together with all it's parts and branches has a goal of harmonizing the development of transport within the national economy. Using the most advanced scientific methods, it's analyses the present stage in development and points out to future goals. The Study also deals with the increase of road safety and the negative effects of the road system to the enviroment. It deals also with the lowering of transport expenses and the optimal and harmonious development in time and space, according to the needs of Croatia. The Study comprehends all branches of transport: road, rail, maritime, air and internal national waterways. As a goal, the harmonization of the development of transport has a task to integrate all parts of Croatia, a better usage of the comparative geo-transport advantages concerning the transit possibilities and finally a much better link with the European systems.
