Summary: Planning of exploitation of water from reservoirs is a complex problem which requires extensive knowledge and analysis. This work can be time consuming and problematic if appropriate tools and softwares are not used. Developing microcomputers software for reservoir design and analyses users can run many alterantives analyses in a manner of minutes especially if software is integrated by reservoir and input data generation. It is especially valid for spreadsheet based methods in designing of reservoirs and rain harvesting system becouse programs can be used by persons without extensive experiance in programming and modeling. The automatic recalculating feature of spreadsheet can be exploited to visualize the effect of changing the parameters involved in the calculations. This is especially useful for educational purposes. In the project several programs was developed for run on microcomputers. Programs are useful for the educational purposes and for engineering work.

Keywords: reservoirs, water resources management, simulation, optimalization, system engineering, coastal area, spreadsheet

Research goals: Goal of the study is improvement of management, exploitation and protection of water resources. Objectives are development of appropriate toopls for design and analyses of reservoires as most important element of water resources management in the areas lakig the water, such us islands. Thus, it would be possible to carry out a sound and efficient management of both water resources and other natural resources which can ensure successful development.
