    Babić, Branimir
    Publisher: "Vartilen" Industrija poliestera
    Year: 1994

    Language: hrvatski
Summary: Due to its properties, the geotextile, and especially impervious membranes (geogrids), are increasingly applied in the realization of environmental protection structures. Waste dumps must nowadays be designed, built and monitored as sophisticated structures, so as to prevent their harmful influence on air, soil and water. Urban dumps with sealing systems are analyzed in the paper. Main principles for using geotextile and geo-membranes in environmental protection are also presented.

Summary: One of the basic problems in rock and soil mechanics is the complexity of rock and soil behavior, particularly when it is necessary to describe their stress and strain properties. The FLAC (Fast Lagrangain Analysis of Continua) is a computer program used as a designer's tool and a research and development environment suitable for modeling in the field of geotechnics, particularly in rock mechanics. The use of FLAC in tunneling and foundation engineering, also including analysis of interaction for discontinuous or bedded rock mass, is presented and illustrated by appropriate examples.

Summary: The results of engineering-geological, mineralogical, petrographical and geotechnical (laboratori and in situ) investigations of flysch layers are presented in the paper. These investigation were performed over the last fifteen years in the coastal areas of the Adriatic in the Republic of Croatia. The information collected enabled establishment of number of corelations between mineralogical-petrographical composition and geotehnical properties of flysch layers. Additional investigations are currently carried out to obtain further information and the established correlations are critically analyzed. The investigations performed and the relations established enable development of more rational solutions at the stage of evaluation, design and construction of structures in areas sharacterizes by flysh formations.

Thepresented new technical solution consists of rock mass cojugatedwith polypropilen fibres reinforced shotcrete (PPFRS) by means ofprestressed anchors. The most convinient properties ofconstituents are used: tensile strength of anchors, thougness, bending and shear strengths of PPFRS and compressive strength ofrock. Authors:
    Jašarević, Ibrahim (18195)
    Ivčić, D.

    Language: hrvatski
    Place: Zagreb
    Year: 1995
Summary: The signifience of engineering-geological and geotechnical works was proven on the example of design and selection of dam type at HPP Lešće and HPP Lučica. The importance of computer-aided program support is being emphasised, since it enables statistical processing of numerous recorded structural and tectonic elements. Integral engineering and geological model has been derived according to the above elements recorded on the terrain surface, in exploratory galleries and boreholes, and on the basis of geophysical investigations, "in site" and laboratory tests. Engineering classification of sigled out rocky blocks hs been carried put and geotechnical model elaborated with selected geotechnical parameters required for appropriate dam calculations. The synthesis and analysis of previously performed eyplorations for HPP Lešće was carried out by the application of engineering-geological and geotechnical modelling on the basis of signgled out tectonic blocks and according to "Q" and "RMR" classification. In this way, the asymmetry coefficient of the dam profile on left and right river bank has been determined (1:1.3 to 1:1.8). It significantly deviates from the previously defined one, so that the solution differ as regards technical and economic poind of view, i.e. instead of gravitational concrede dam - the arch dam.

    Pages: from 633 to 638
Meeting: Mechanics of Jointed and Faulted Rock
    Held: from 04/10/95 to 04/14/95
Summary: The ultimate bearing capacity of the footing, in layered and jointed rock mass, significantly depends on the characteristics and position of layers and joints. The paper analyzes this problem considering the influence of thickness, position and orientation of a layer with singificiant difference in characteristics (of deformation and shear strength) from the main rock mass. The influence of joints between a layer and mass, as a part of the analysis, is determined. The analysis is made for strip surface footing, using numerical modelling. Calculations are erformed simultaneously by two computer programs using the finite element method and the finite difference method, with independent development of models. For the iteration procedure used in the calculation, the influence of load increase in stepping up on the determination of "local" and "Global" failure for a "Week" layer in the "strong" rock mass, and a significant increase for a "strong" layer in a "weak" mass.
Keywords: ultimate bearing capacity, footing, layered and jointed rock mass, numerical modelling.
