Summary: The aim of the paper is to present wave forecasts for
periods of
time ranging between several years and a hundred years, and
yielding numerical results for practical engineering needs. Such
results are produced by local long-term and extreme value wave
prediction, i.e. by prediction for extended spans of time. As an
orientation when selecting the method, wave forecasts, as well as
the existing methods for extended spans of time, are reviewed
taking into consideration the source of data and the required
result. A number of methods for the prediction of representative
wave parameters, such as the significant wave height Hs, the
maximum wave height Hmax, the expected maximum wave height N,
the maximum wave height HNmod with highest probability among theN highest
waves, the average wave period o the maximum waveperiod To,max, as well as
the methods for the prediction ofindividual wave heights H, are presented.

Summary: The paper analyses the condition of limit depth as the
usual criterion in calculation the contraction of spillway profiles on
slope concentration works in open watercourses with no sediment discharge.
It is demonstrated that this criterion is not applicable to watercourses
sized according to the criteria of limit velocity or permissible flow
force. It is suggested that, for optimum shaping of the spillway profile,
the condition of equal specific flow energy in the channel and on
contracted profile be introduced as more realistic criterion, and the
suggestion is further explained.

Summary: The short-term wind wave stage at a given geographical
point is expressed through statistically or spectrally defined
representative wave parameters whose relationships are based on
probabilistic models of actual wave processes. The author shows to what
extent partly unfulfilled theoretical assumptions influence the deviation
of real from theoretical relationships and to what degree these assumptions
control dissipation of real occurrences around an average relationship.

Summary: The objective of this paper is to provige general rewiev
of the inland navigation conditions in Croatia andsacientifically grounded
projections of the authors on itsoutlooks in the future. Having this as a
point of departure anumber of aspects have been dealt with reffering to
traffic,transport, fleet and civil engineering and financing aspects.
Ithas been proved that the inland navigation in Croatia possessespotential
of it enters the Europe's market of services by way ofthe Adriatic-Danube
basin traffic corridor. Within this scope thesubject corridor should be
made attractive from the trafficaspect by construction of a combined
navigation/rail route ofhigh international standard and class on the
Adriatic-Danuberoute. This requirement can be fulfilled through the
constructionof the Danube-Sava Canal, Rijeka-Zagreb doubke gauge rail
link,improving Sava river by channeling, and construction of theZagreb
river port in conjunction with provision of facilitiesfoor other ports and
additions to the fleet.

Summary: Intensive development of nautical tourism on Croatian
Adriatic coast and marinas functional requirements, caused recently
construction on locations and with materials out of everyday standards. On
rubble-mound breakwater in Opatija Marina in IŠi‘i,
a nonstandard rock core containing excessive quantity of dusty fraction was
used, compacted by means of explosive. The example
of Umag Marina will show the foundation of permeable stabile breakwater,
loaded dominantly by horizontal forces, placed on
undersea depression filled with marine sediment. For aforementioned
examples applied methods of problem solving and results of some
construction behavior observations, will be presented.

Summary: The development of navigation waterways is of great
importance to the development of the traffic system of Croatia, and
consequently also to the economic importance of the country in the process
of connection of the Danubian Basin and the Adriatic Sea. War activities in
1991 and 1992 brought the river transport to a complete halt, and even
before that river transport did not meet the requirements of traffic
development and the economy of Croatia. However, it is necessary to
continue field survey and research for the purpose of studies and designing
of the network of inland navigation waterways in Croatia (rivers and
canals) for the purpose of connection with international waterways ln
Europe. The primary signrfficance and purpose of inlrrnd navigation in
Croatia is incluslon cn the European market of transport services, through
the Adriatic Sea - Danubian Basin traffic system, and thus more successful
economlc development of the country as a whole.

Summary: Many theories are developed for mathematical description of
wave motion, most of them assuming velocity potential function. These wave
theories for the transition and shallow water give more or less reliable
results expressed as descriptions of motion
of water particles. The most reliable results according to the dynamic
surface boundary condition are obtaining by the Dean Š9) wave theory of
stream function. In the Dean theory, some difficulties occur regarding
convergence of solutions,
caused by hyperbolic term in the stream function. In this paper, the stream
function with the exponential term has been selected instead of the
hyperbolic term. It has been shown that, with such choice, in the standard
and modified Newton method of
solving N nonlinear equations with N unknowns, the solution is converging.
The order of size of the error in the dynamic surface boundary condition is
negligible (10-7). Introduction of the exponential term into the stream
function does not satisfy
the kinematic bottom boundary condition exactly. Previous authors, by
choosing the stream function with the hyperbolic term, satisfied the
kinematic bottom boundary condition exactly. It has been shown that the
error thus introduced is of the some
order as the errors in the order two surface boundary conditions.
