Summary: The river Drava is widely used as an energy source due to
its biglongitudinal bed sloping and the uniform annual discharge. Alongthe
entire river several dams were constructed or are planned tobe constructed
for the purposes of storage basins. The mentionedconstruction changes the
river regime as well as theenvironmental conditions which result in a
process ofeutrophycation and at the same time endanger the quality of
thewater. In the paper the factors influencing the mentioned changesare
discussed. Also the methods by which the process ofeutrophycation may be
decreased or declined are reported.
