Summary: The recent rapid progress in the building technolgy, the audacity in the design and extrapolation out of the standard forms and proportions without suufficient empiric data demand the especially careful approach in the proof process for the safety factor of some special engineering structures like: capital large-span bridges, high towers and chimnies, silos, roofs etc. The problems are pronounced in the choice of physical parameters of probabilistic character, which essentially determine the result of mathematical medeling. The indispensable state parameters are classified in specific groups depending on the presence frequency at each type of special structures. The necessity of knowing the essential state parameters of structures "a priori" in the design phase of the special structures requires the extensive investigation of the present structures and models. These parameters are experimentally and theorethically determined with adequate accuracy by probabilistic approach because determinist design expression of parameters usually does not quarantee a reliable result. State parameters of structures are measured in correlation with real load collective at some significant structures and models during long period of time in order to control the existing safety condition as well as to make a data bank of the special structures behaviour, emphasizing rheologycal accurrences and dynamical behaviour. The results of these investigations are used not only as neccessary parameters for safe and economical design, but as base for new recommendations of special structures design, construction and maintenance, likewise for making a legislation proposal.

Research goals: Improving and creation new methods for special structures behaviour observation, specially for determining time depending parameters of state in correlation with the real behaviour and safety state. Development of analitical method for determining realistic structure safety state and behaviour. Foundation and forming of general nondestructive testing approches for estimate of behaviour and real safety state of some structures types, specially bridges. Development of measurement processes, systems and method. Choise and development of electronic equipment wich is compatible with characteristic engineering structure behaviour. Creation of data base for state parameters with set of real parameters of each one observed structure in course of time with arranged groups of some structures types, emphasizing dynamic parameters, like frequency and modal shapes periods, damping coefficients, functions of correlation and cross-correlation, spectral density and frequency response. Development and forming a permanent observation system for capital structures with wireless or modem coverage in observation, control and data gathering centre. Application of investigation for modern structures development, likewise for specifications of special engineering structure design, construction and maintenance.
