    Summary: The paper will concern itself with Load Resistance Factor Design Criteria of AISC Specification for hte design strength of axially loaded columns, beams and other flexural members in bending, dhear and combined bending and shear. Specifically, the method of the first-order probabilistic basis will be illustrated by the examples of columns and beams with the selection of the load and resistance factors under dead and live loading. The paper will conclude with a brief review of the research work done in connection with the development of LRFD criteria.

    Summary: Laterally unsupported steel beams are analyzed with respect to various design models. Parameters of imperfection were derived from the equation for buckling of compression members, by means of the nonlinear regression analysis using results from experimental research. New values alpha for parameters of imperfection have been obtained. Out of the total of 318 rolled beams tested, 17 samples are below the proposed model by alpha = 0.247

    Summary: The reliability of the design methods in EUROCODE-4, Composite Construction, for composite columns is studied in this paper. The investigation is made for both concrete-filled tubes and concrete encased profiles. The research compares the available test-results with the design model of EC-4 using the second order reliability method.

    Summary: The ultimate capacity of the steel plate girders under thebending moment and shear is analysed for the purpose of theevaluation of the reliability index. The results of thecalibration is the low index of safety (2.50), which needs thecorrection of the model for the target reliability. theresistance factors are evaluated and vary with the stressdomination. For the region of interaction of bending and shearresistance factor is 0.786 .

    Summary: In this work the calibration of the glued-laminated beams inflexure is evaluated for the limit state equation with thedesigned values for the loads and the resistances. Thereliability index varies, which is the result of the calibrationunder the combination of the loads and the load duration factors.The minimum of the reliability index is proposed for theevaluation of the resistance factor.

    Summary: The numerical database system has been developed for 544experiments on the steel beams which are laterally un supportedwith the details of cross-sectional shape, load and boundaryconditions, fabrication process, material properties and theinitial imperfections. This test results are stored on theNumerical Data-Base for the Ultimate Strength of the SteelStructures. The aim of this paper is the probabilistic evaluationof the lateral-torsional buckling strength of ECCS and AISCdesign formula comparing them with test results and the realisedindices of the reliability. As the target reliability is notalways achieved, the correction of the strength formula isproposed by the model factors in LRFD criteria for the uniformreliability of these members.

    Summary: The analysis of the experimental results for ultimate capacity ofthe plate girders in the combined bending and shear is made inorder to calibrate the steel plate girders, with theSpecifications of AISC and SIA 161/79. For these models, thestatistical data of the tested to predicted ratios is evaluatedand with certain conditions of load effects, the calibration byFOSM format is performed. The results shows low reliability leveland the correction of the theoretical model is proposed.

    Summary: The purpose of this paper is to report the values of thereliability index for the welded beams and plate girderssubjected to shear, which are designed according to AISCSpecification and the test data for this analysis are taken fromthe references. It is shown that the reliability indices areneither uniform, nor are they equal to the anticipated targetvalue. To achieve this aim, the new resistance factors arederived.

    Summary: The bean design requirements for limit state lateral torsional buckling are analysed and criteria for two codes (AISC and ECCS) are compared. As the differences in the design requirements are substantial, the comparasion of the achieved reliability indeces is made in order to find out the model which is closer to the target reliability level. For this purpose the four example is done concerning with the various observation data of snow loads in Croatia. The characteristic values from the actual snow loads on the roof construction are derived and the lateraly unsupported rolled steel beams are designed with various unbraced lengths due to the ultimate moments capacity reqiurements.

    Summary: From the experimental results of 348 laterally unsupported rolled beams, the new coefficient of imperfections alpha i evalueted, which is used in well-known Ayrton-Perry formula, by non-linear regession analysis. The tests, taken from Numerical Data Base of Steel Structures, are used. The adjustments of the mentioned curve, to mean values and 95% fractiles of the experimental results results if performed by the evaluation of the appropriate coefficients of imperfections.
