Summary:
The project " Structure Foundations with Aimed Re-distributionof Contact
Stresses" comprises a wide range of issues where "thenatural" transmission
of forces and/or stresses in the soil andthe structure is being
deliberately changed by certain technicalmeasures.
In the project covering geotechnical anchors the dependance ofthe anchor
root displacement ( extreme point ) and the activatedforce has been
considered. For the linear and bilinearrelationship of displacement and
shear stress on the anchorcylinder - adjacent soil contact the analytical
solutions havebeen developed while the numerical procedure has been
developedfor the general relationship.
The aimed water flow through the embankment dams represents alsocertain
aiming of the force transmission in the structure. Withthe selection of the
drainage system a stream and potential fied, respectively, is formed
affecting the static and hydraulicstability of the structure.
The aimed stress re-distribution is particularly expressed in thebeam and
slab foundation structures. Here, by weakening the soilin the particular
zones the stresses in the structure as well asthe structure deformation can
be essentially affected.
At piles the negative friction represents a separate problem andit can be
entirely or partly eliminated by particular technicalmeasures.
The complex systems offer the greatest possibilities of the aimedforce
transmission through the structure to the soil ( e.g.crane rails on the
longitudinal sleeper with elastic washers ).
Research goals: The main scope of these investigations is to find
out such technical measures applied to the structure and/or the soil that
could change "the natural" transmission of the forces from the structure to
the soil. By changing the force transmission also the stress, strain and
displacement conditions of the entire structure system ,
structure-foundation-soil, is being changed. This change is being
introduced as to attain one of the following objects: - to get a
technically more efficient solution - to get an economical solution - to
provide a safer solution - to avoid some technical problems. Such
measures can result in a more uniform strain of the structure with the
identical or similiar settlements of all foundations or in equalization of
the foundation beam or grillage settlements. Moreover, the aimed force
transmission to the soil can prevent a just constructed structure to cause
stresses under the existing structure due to which an additional
settlement, bending and cracking of the structure would take place.
Consequently, "the natural" force transmission from the structure to the
soil need not always be favourable either for the new structure or for the
existing structures. A deliberate change of force transmission to the soil
can provide more suitable technical and economical solutions or thus
certain technical problems can be avoided. Other information about the project.
