Summary: The influence of the addition of small quantities of tin to
high- purity aluminium (5N) on its electrochemical behaviour was
investigated. Cathodic current-time transients were recorded on Al-Sn
alloys in neutral 2M NaCl, when subjected to a potential pulse from the
open circuit potential to different negative values. Anodic current
responses to the return of the potential to the rest values were also
recorded, and the charges required for oxidation of the substances created
during the cathodic process are discussed.
Keywords: High-purity aluminium, Al-Sn alloy, cathodic polarization.

Summary: Physical properties and photoelectrochemical behaviour of
the phase boundary betweenthe Cu2O and liquid have been investigated. On
the basis of the exsperimental data a conductivity mechanism and an energy
sheme for the thin oxide semiconducter is given. Some unusual phenomena are
discussed on the basis of the properties of the thin oxide/electrolyte
phase boundary where surface effects are more pronounced than in the bulk
material. An analysis of the causes for the low conversion efficiency of
the Cu2O photoanode in photoelectrochemical cells is given.
Keywords: Copper oxides, electrical transport measurments, polycristalline thin films, semiconducting films, semiconductor-electrolyte interfaces, surface photovoltage.
