Summary: The potenciometric method was used determine the boron
content inmagnesium-oxide obtained from sea water the analyses depend onthe
method of rinsing the product obtained. The following wereexamined: the
influence of pH of the rinsing solution, durationof stirring and contact of
the suspension, influence of thequantity of the rinsing agent, and the
method of precipitateseparation in sub-stoichiometric precipitation.
Individualsamples of magnesium oxide obtained from sea water bysub-and over
stoichiometric precipitation were then sintered. This paper lists densities
of samples sintered and presents theirphotomicrographs
Keywords: magnesium oxide from sea water, properties of magnesium oxide, determination of boron, potentiometric method

Summary: The process of isothermal sintering of magnesium okside
obtainedfrom sea water and of reagent grade magnesium oxide was examined
with addition of 0.5 % TiO2, at atemperature of 1600 oC, for different
durations of isothermal sintering and for different pressure applied in the
forming of compacts. Product density, shrinkage and porosity were examined,
and the results obtained were analysed mathematically. The effect of TiO2
in the magnesium oxide sample on the content of B2O3 was also determined.
Coefficients have been calculated for associated reactions, namely those
for the formation of Ca2B2O5 and CaTiO3.

Summary: The effect has been examined of TiO2 on B2O3 content in
sintered magnesium oxide samples obtained by precipitation of magnesium
hydroxide in sea water with 80 or 120 % of the stoichiometrical quantity of
the precipitation agent, i.e. the effect of TiO2 on product properties has
been examined. Coefficients were calculated for dependent reactions of
Ca2B2O5 and CaTiO3 formation.
Keywords: magnesium oxide from sea water, nonstoichiometric precipitation, content of B2O3 in magnesium oxide, phenomenological coefficients
