Summary: Theoretical and experimental investigation of an optimum solution for a plant used for harnessing Adriatic Sea wave energy; critical consideration of knowledge and experience relating to experimental plants used in the world; forming of a wave energy absorber and selection of the most promising solution; model investigations of the efficiency of its various configurations and relations between geometrical parameters at various sea states; systematization of the knowledge about Adriatic Sea waves applaying spectral description of waves in the analysis of the sea wave energy of individual sea states; theoretical preparations for generation of irregular sea waves of desired spectral density of energy for investigations in basin conditions; procedure for selecting wave energy absorber with acceptable efficiency; gaining at the same time knowledge about the possibilities of harnessing wave energy of the Adriatic Sea.

Keywords: Alternative energy sources, wave energy absorber, wave energy, wave generation, hydrodynamic effects, wave spectrum

Research goals: The goal and expected contribution of the research is defined starting from the applied physical base and the obtained results so far. On the basis of practical knowledge gained so far, first of all, on bad experience with constructed pilot-plants destroyed by the sea (wave power), it is obvious that the research should be oriented towards solid, first of all, concrete constructions which would be strong enough to resist the sea. In other words, the phisical principles and tehnical solutions based on more or less mechanically complex constructions should be avoided since they would be most probably exposed to destruction. The expected contribution of the research would be firm guidelines for building a system for possible harnessing of the Adriatic Seawave energy. Special attention will be paid to discovering of those locations on the Adriatic coast where nature has already created conditions for optimum utilisation of such solution. All this together should lead to the final goal - the improvement of the energy balance of the country.
