Summary: Ten-year incidence of ulcerative colitis in Zagreb is
presented. The study included both outpatients and inpatients regardless of
the extent and severity of disease. The mean annual incidence rate was 1.5
pre 100,000 inhabitants. There was no increase in the incidence during the
study period. Prevalence rate estimate of 21.4 pre 100,000 inhabitanhs was
based on July 1985 official estimated population. The results confirm the
low frequency of ulcerative colitis in Central Europe.
Keywords: ulcerative colitis, Zagreb, incidence, prevalence

Summary: A ten-year prospective study of Chron's disease was carried
out in Zagreb. It included both inpatients and outpatients regardless of
the extent and severity of disease. The mean annual incidence rate was 0.7
per 100,000 between 01.01.1980. and 31.12.1989.There was no increase in the
incidence of Chron's disease in the study period. The prevalence of Chron's
disease was 8.3 per 100,000 on 31.12.1989. The results confirm the low
frequency of Chron's disease in central and southern Europe.
Keywords: Zagreb, Chron's disease, incidence rate, prevalence rate

Volume: 17
Year: 1993
Pages: from 49 to 54
Number of references: 30
Language: engleski
Summary: The study assessed the role of fibrinogen in coronary heart
disease in a sample of urban population, A total of 176 subjects (115 M, 61
F) were included, 88 of which clinically healthy. In the latent space of
the following variables: fibrinogen, CH, TB, HDL, LDL, LDL/HDL and CH/LDL
in Principal Component Analysis, three dominant factors were seen,
explaining altogether 71.5% variances. Increase in the fibrinogen level
correlates with factors 2 and 3, which do not correlate with the risk
factors.
Keywords: coronary artery disease, risk factors, fibrinogen, latent structure, urban population

Summary: An analysis of fibrinolitic markers was carried out in 3
subject groups: 113 patients with a prior miocardial infarction, 110
subjects whose close relatives had sustained a miocardial infarction and in
control group of 107 phenotyically healthy subjects. Out of eight by factor
analysis extracted factors, infarction-fibrinogen was the most important.
An elevated fibrinogen concentration represents the most important risk
predictor of coronary hearth disease and subsequent miocardial infarction.
Keywords: miocardial infarction, prevention, cardio-vascular diseases, risk factors
