Summary: By implementation of health promotion and preventive
medicine measures it is possible to change the health status of
popupaltion. The resulta are better if these measures are adequate to the
local health problems and local circumstances. On the basis of analysis of
recent literature and experiences in the field, a programme of such
measures for different health problems will be investigated with the aim
to get satisfactory effectiveness and acceptable efficiency and to
develope programmes for implementation in the Republic of Croatia.
Research will include problems of implementation of health promotion and
prevention programmes in different areas (rural, urban), different groups
within the general population (e.g., school children, elderly), as well as
for different health problems (AIDS, family planning, cardiovascular
disease, mental health). Upon the analysis of efficiency and effectiveness
of the measures implemented, optimal programmes of preventive and health
promoting measures will be identified for different areas, population
groups and health problems. Several research methods are to be used in
different stages of the research project, including: methods of planning
and intersectorial methods, such as Delphi method, scenario,
brain-storming, computer simulation, and different laboratory methods and
methods of data analysis.
Keywords: health promotion, prevention, effectiveness, efficiency, periodic health examination, health care programme, life style, screening, organization, health planning
