Summary: This study investigate direct effects of insulin on amino
acidtransport, glycolysis, glucose production and glycogen synthesisin
hepatocytes cultured in vitro as well as interaction ofinsulin with other
hormones (glucagon, somatostatin, adrenaline,noradrenaline, vasopressin,
angiotensin and dexamethasone) andsympathetic nerve stimulation.
Research goals: The aim of this study is to find out possible steps
of insulin interaction with catabolic hormones, trying to resolve mechanism
of insulin action. This study also investigate interplay between insulin
signalling and protein kinase C, as well as role of cytosolic Ca. The
results of this study will improve our understanding of insulin action at
the cellular level, molecular basis of insulin action and development of
insulin resistance. Other information about the project.
