Summary: 56 newly diagnosed patients with "idiopatic" dilated
cardiomyopathy were included. To all patients the examinations and
laboratory findings were undertaken according to methodology described in
registration of investigation. Dilated cardiomyopathy is of special
interest for investigators because of younger age of patients and
noncurable nature of disease. The infectious-immunological aspects of
pathogenesis, genetic determinants for appearance of dilated cardiomyopathy
were analised. Early diagnostic signs of disease, frequency of some
clinical, laboratory, electrocardiographic, echocardiographic parameters
and parameters from other invasive and noninvasive technics were analized
as well as course of disease, and implication of varous mode of treatments
on survival.
Research goals: Goals of this investigation is understanding of
natural history, and pathofisiology of syndrome of primary and secondary
dilated cardiomyopathies. In the group of secondary cardiomyopathies
special investigation was undertaken on alcoholic and postinfectious
cardiomyopathies. Other information about the project.
