Summary: In the proposed investigation various drugs like vasoconstrictigagents (beta-blockers), vasodilating agents (nitrates, Caantagonists) and other drugs (metoklopramid, domperidon,somathostatin) will be investigated for their action on theportal and systemic hemodynamics, on the portal blood flow andesophageal varicose blood flow. This investigation will give someinformation about the usfullness of this drugs in the treatmentof portal hypertension. The study will be dubble blind, placebocontroled. The clinical effects and side-effects will beinvestigated for all the included drugs and their combinations,and their potention role in the treatment of portal hypertensionand the primary and secundary prevention of varicose bleeding.

Research goals: 1. To investigate the effects of the potentialy effective drugs in the therapy of portal hypertension and systemic hemodinamics including heart beating volume, peripheral vascular resistence, total blood flow in the liver, oxigen transport and free and closed preassure in the liver vains. 2. To investigate the effects of this drugs on the portal hemodinamics including portal vain diameter, portal flow and velocity. 3. To investigate the influence of this drugs on esophageal veins blood flow.4. Clinical, placebo-controled, investigation of this drugs and their combinations in the pharmacotherapy of portal hypertension
