from Micromeria thymifolia /Scop./ Fritsch against dermatophytes
- Authors:

- Kalođera, Zdenka (19931)
- Pepeljnjak, Stjepan (36114)
- Blaževi', Nikola
- Hazler, Kroata
Journal: Periodicum Biologorum
Volume: 4
Year: 1994
Pages: from 383 to 385
Language: engleski
Summary: The essential oil and ethanolic extract were active against
on all tested dermatophytes in liquid medium. High toxicity was asserted by
essential oil and pulegone /0,1 respectively 0,9 vol.%/ on Trichophyton
mentagrophytes, T. rubrum, Microsporum canis and Epidermophytan floccosum.
The ethanolic extrat also inhibited growth of the conc. 4-6 vol%. Pulegon
is mostly responsible for antifungal effect on the oil and extract.
Keywords: antifungal activity, dermatophytes, essential oil, pulegon
Title: Effect of ohratoxin A on Na, K-ATPase activity in rat
proximal tubules
- Authors:
- Petrik, Jozef
- Pepeljnjak, Stjepan (36114)
- Zrinski, Renata
- Čepelak, Ivana (7950)
Journal: Il Frincli Medico. Suppl.
Volume: 60
Year: 1994
Language: engleski
Summary: Fischer rats 2 mounths old, treated with 120 ug/kg b.w.
dissolved in neutral olive oil, p.o. during 35 days. No significant changes
in the concentrations at Na and K in serum were observed during the
treatment. Significant change in the amount of Na and K excreted in 24 h
urine was observed /150% for Na and 154% for K/, after 10 days of
experiment. Activity of Na, K-ATPase increased for about 10% by the end of
the experiment.
Keywords: ohratoxin A, rats, Na, K-ATPase
Title: Cyclopiazonic acid and aflatoxin production by cultures of
Aspergillus flavus isolated from dried beans and maize
- Authors:
- Cvetnić, Zdenka (7314)
Journal: Die Nahrung
Number: 1
ISSN: 0102-0012
Volume: 38
Year: 1994
Pages: from 21 to 25
Language: engleski
Summary: From the storerooms kof individual households 150 samples
of dried beans and 90 samples of stored maize were collected for
mycological analyses. Two of 27 isolates of A. flavus grown on malt extract
agar /MEA/ were found to produce the mycotoxin cyclopiazonic acid /25-36
ug/g/. Three of the A. flavus isolates grown on crushed moist wheat
produced aflatoxin B1 /0,72-1,6 ug/g/ and 6 of 26 A. ochraceus isolataes
were OA positive /0,5-10,4 ug/g/. None of 25 bean samples were contaminated
with CPA, AF or OA, while 13,3% of maize samples were OA positive with
level of OA 0,4-400 ug/g.
Keywords: A. flavus, biosinthesis, CPA, maize, beans
Title: Aflatoxin-producing potential of Aspergillus flavus and
Aspergillus paraciticus isolated from samples of smoked-dried meat
- Authors:
- Cvetnić, Zdenka (7314)
- Pepeljnjak, Stjepan (36114)
Journal: Die Nahrung
Number: 4
ISSN: 0408-0304
Volume: 39
Year: 1995
Pages: from 302 to 307
Language: engleski
Summary: Over a period of three years 420 samples of various
smoke-dried meat products, collected form individual households in
different region of Croatia were analysed for the presence of aflatoxigenic
strains of the Aspergillus flavus group. Strains of A. flavus and A.
parasitucus were present in 17.8% of the samples, and aflatoxin-producing
ability was tested in 75 strains. In relation to sequential method of
aflatoxin detectiion, 5 of 8 isolates were found in the first step
/fluorescence in aflatoxin-producing ability medium - APA/ and all of them
in the second step /extraction method from syntheses on moist shredded
wheat - SW/. A. flavus strains produced mainly aflatoxin B1, and had
various levels of toxigenicity /1.4-3.12 mg/kg/. Some strains of A.
parasiticus produced all four aflatoxins B1 B2 G1 G2, while theother ones
produced AF B1+G1 only, with concentrations of aflatoxins from 0,1 to 450
mg/kg.
