Summary: The damage produced by mould and its toxic metabolites in theproduction of food stuffs represents significant economic lossesin the economies of the majority of countries in the world. Thelosses are in fact, more damaging if having in mind thatmycotoxins in addition to having an effect on the health ofanimals, also effect people,s health ( diseases of the liver, kidneys, and the digestive, reproductive, nervous and immunesystems). The inclusion od Croatia in the stream of European andworld economies calls for the establishment of standards for thecontrol and tolerance concentrations of mycotoxins in food inorder to adjust our production and health of population.
