Summary: The previous investigation to establish the presence of
infection in the general population of North-Eastern Croatia, along
Croatian-Hungarian border indicate the existence of natural foci of the
individual type of arboviruses. Serological testing was therefore carried
out of six types arboviruses. Seroconversions indicated the existance and
the movement of viruses in the natural environment and the extend of
infection. The next step has to be isolation of arboviruses from some
vectors in pathobiocenoses. This is the reason why the epidemiologycal,
arachnologycal and virologycal investigations are necessary. The special
meaning of this project is to create a new laboratory technics like
isolation of arboviruses from different vectors on different cell
cultures. The most important part of this project is isolation of Dengue
virus if possible.
Research goals: The aim of this investigation is to obtain an
insight into the extend of risk of infection in the potential natural foci
of arboviruses in certain geographical region along Croatian-Hungarian
border. Moreover the main task of this project is isolation of Dengue
virus on special cell culture made from some mosquitoes or ticks because
the previous investigation indicates the existence of natural foci of this
virus in Croatia.
