Summary: Cerebral ischemia in young adults is an important medical
problem, since in 26 up to 38 percent of the patients, the cause of the
disease is not easily established with absolute certainty. The aim of the
research is to investigate the etiology and pathogenesis of cerebral
ischemia in young adults, its clinical manifestations as well as treatment
and current diagnostic possibilities. With the above mentioned aim in mind
the group of patients of both sexes aged between 17 and 50 will be
evaluated. Laboratory investigation comprising cardiological, neurological
invasive and noninvasive tests will be carried out in order to get a better
insight into the multiple problems of the disease. Based on the obtained
data the quality of treatment and rehabilitation will probably be improved,
and at the same time the quality of life will be positively affected and
disease recidiva prevented.
Keywords: ischemia, cerebrum, young adult
Research goals: After having suffered cerebral ischemia the young as
well as elderly patients undergo different laboratory, internal
(cardiologic) and neurologic examinations. The obtained data along the
clinical picture of the disease are invaluable for understanding the onset
of the disease. In this group of patients not only typical but also
atypical and infrequent causes of the disturbance should be taken into
consideration. The aim of the study is: a) to examine the signifiance of
the typical risk factors b) to investigate significance of the atypical
and infrequent etiological and pathogenetic factors c) to establish
morphologic changes and their characteristic d) to establish the possible
insufficiency of the present diagnostic modalities d) to establish the
treatment and rehabilitation possibilities of the patients Thestudy will
contribute to the better understanding of the disease mechanisms in order
to reduce risk factors, to enhance diagnostic and treatment procedures and
to improve patients rehabilitation. In this way the quality of life will
also be improved, thus inhibiting disease recidiva. Other information about the project.
