Summary: We will develop and apply mathematical and statistical
models for dynamics and therapy of haematological diseases. An expert
system will be established by which will enable early detection and
interpretation of some undesirable events occuring during therapy. A
simulation model of the dynamics of haematological diseases in population
will be developed.
Keywords: mathematical model, haematological diseases, bone marrow, transplantation, simulation, data base
Research goals: The scope of our research is to establish an
expert system by specific mathematical and statistical methods and neural
networks. This system would make it possible to predict, with acceptable
degree of certainty, the outcome of therapy and in this way physicians
could avoid possible complications. This expert system would be connected
with the existing data base and would make an integral system in treating
leukemias. By using the example of Marek's poultry disease we would
examine how this model describes the development of the disease in
experimental conditions. Within the framework of this project we would
also develop specific statistical methods and work out computer
programmes for longitudinal data analysis. General simulation model of the
dynamics of infectious diseases would be modified so that it could be
applied to non-infectious diseases. Epidemiological studies would
determine risk factors that influence development of leukemias in specific
sub-populations.
