Summary: Some scientifically interesting and economically importantinfectious diseases in domestic and laboratory animals caused byopportunistic bacteria and fungi as well as viral diseasespathogenetically connected with these organisms are investigated. The microorganisms of special interest are: staphylococci, streptococci, pasteurellas, enterobacteria, mycoplasma anddermatophytes, and some myxo-, calici- and herpesviruses. Themain subject of the investigation are frequency and distributionof the diseases, their control and physiological andimmunological features of causative agents and theirsusceptibility to various antimicrobial agents.

Keywords: etiopathogenesis, prophylaxis, opportunistic infections, staphylococci, streptococci, pasteurellas, entherobacteria, mycoplasmas, dermatophytes, myxoviruses, caliciviruses, herpesviruses, physiological properties, antigenic properties, susceptibility to antimicrobial drugs

Research goals: The main research goals are establishing frequency andpathogenesis of some bacterial and fungal diseases as well asviral diseases closely pathogenetically connected with them.Familiarity with physiological, pathogenic and immunogenicproperties of the causative agents of these opportunisticinfections and their antibiotics sensitivity, contributes tobetter understanding of their biology and pathogenicity. Also thediagnosis and control of the diseases caused by them will be moresuccessful and easier. In achievement these goals specially carewill be paid to establishing serovar and biovar distribution andtheir frequency as causative agents of the diseases in domestic, laboratory and other animals.
