Summary: Chemical investigation of Micromeria thymifolia(Scop.)Fritsch showed the presence of essential oil, flavonoids, triterpenes amd saponins. Activity of essential oil and ethanolic extract against five most common dermatophytes was studied. Antifungsal activity of essential oil in dilutions between 0,1 and 0,9% and the extract in dilutions between 4 and 6,5% was confirmed. The investigation has showed that the pulegone as the major component of the oil is mostly responsible for the effect of essential oil.

Summary: Ursolic and oleanolic acids were isolated from Micromeriathymifolia and identified. Apigenin, naringenin and luteolin werecharacterised as aglycones, while glucose and rhamnose werecharacterised as sugars of flavonoid glycosides. Essential oilwas characterised by a very high content of oxygenatedmonoterpenes (pulegone, menthol) and by a very low content ofsesquiterpene compounds.

Summary: The Dictionary contains about 950 headwords (entries) of pharmacognostical terms in common use in the Europaean pharmacopoeia. it has two parts. The first one contains the introduction and a planty of information useful for the research workers and practical users of the Dictionary. The second part contains the basic English column with translation into Croatian language. The Dictionary should be considered as a descriptive rather than a normative dictionary.

Summary: The extracts of Tanacetum parthenium (L.)Schultz-Bip were prepared by percolation procedure with 45% and 90% ethanol. Out of a total 19 tested microorganisms by agar diffusion method both extracts have shown antimicrobial activity on many Gram positive bacteria, on Candida albicans and C.kruzei (fungi) and on Truchophyton mentagrophytes (dermatophyte). The Gram negative species have proved much less sensitive to the extracts.

Summary: The overground parts of Tanacetum parthenium (L.)Schultz-Bip contain essential oil which is dominated by sesquiterpenic compoundsđ germacranolides, guajanolides and eudesmanolides. Out of total 27 tested microorganisms essential oil showed a wide range of antimicrobial activity. Gram positive species demonstrated a significantly lower sensitivity to essential oil than Gram negative ones, the molds, the dermatophytes and some fungi. Essential oil had a strong microbicidal effect on almost all tested Gram negative species and fungi.
