Summary: Program "Beekeeping technology and beeproducts processing in Republic of Croatia" will be realized on the two model areas. One is intensive industry and agriculture region with the continental climate. We follow improve of beekeeping and pollination induced by beekeeper's cooperation. Unije with neighbor islands represents Mediterranean climate with extensive agriculture in our program. It is also a part of the program "Revitalization of the small and medium islands" supported by FAO. We test possibility to isolate different strains of autochtonous bee Apis mellifera carnica. Results of this program are the first part of the beebreeding and selection program.

Research goals: The goal of the project is to validate present situation inbeekeeping technology and beeproducts processing in relation toapplied agriculture techniques, techniques of beekeeping anddemographic structure. To follow improve of beekeeping andpollination induced by beekeeper's cooperation with agriculture. To establish purity of used race of bees and possibility toprotect our autochthonous subpopulation of the bees from mixingwith the other European populations. To authenticate local bees and to test possibility ofimprovement, as a base for selection adapted bees, on the localclimate and food resources. Result of this project will be a basis for development ofbeekeeping in Republic of Croatia.
