Summary: In order to use optimum results - giving methods, big populationin essential in carrying out the breeding programe. Themultiplication procedures enable a small number of selectedindividuals in the nuclei to produce great series of animals. Those animals have accurately and in advance productivepotentials and a well know quality of the product. Therefore, the basis for a successful breeding in live stock isthe organization of nucleus and procurement of great enough amarket of stock for breeding. The production and the quality ofthe stock gas to be recognized in the market while the market ofthe sock for breeding must deliberated from the monopoly. Thereproduction (mating) should bot be monopolized while themarketing value of supply and demand of stock for breeding ashould be procured through a carried out reproduction.

Summary: The main characteristic of contemporary pig production on marketterms, is that is no monopoly over the production either of stockfor breeding material, or of the meat production with rights todetermine the conditions of production. Although some of the contries or group of countries even in thedeveloped, western world, forarded their production into morefavourable market position by customs and other regulations, aworld market of swine products and feed stuff has been formed. Due to the organization of breeding companies, the pig-breedingproduction specijalized for the stock for breeding production, acquired and international reputation. In the advanced,pig-breeding countries, the stock for breeding production isextremely productive, so that many husbandries produce over 5000fattening pigs. On the contrary, the number of husbandries who are engaged inpig-production continualy have decliming. As the new system of marking the quality of swine at a slaughterlevel and information system for the European Common Market isgoing to be introduced, it is a necessity to develop the samemarking systems and to participate in future information systems.

Summary: The fast development and application of scientific knowledgeenabled production large series of the best quality cattle goods.Developing animal husbandry made progress in two directions:cattle breeding and cattle growing. Yugoslavia has not succeeded in developing cattle breeding andthe animal husbandary lags behind the world development. The development of animal husbandry was under the influence ofcattle food markets and cattle goods markets, especially export. The posibilities of domestic market forming and including inworld markets of cattle food and cattle goods for developingYugoslav animal husbandary are the foals of this research.

Summary: In earlier investigations Petričević et al (1985) haveascertained significant differencies of the percentage of boneswithin the carcasses and ham between the Sweden Landrace (SL) andthe Hypor (Hy) hogs. In our researching work the femur and humerus of SL(n=62) and ofHy (n=53) were compared. The following parameters of femur andhumerus were measured: the weight, the length, the circumferenceof diaphysis on the thinnest place, the diameter largest (on theplace of measuring the volume) diameter of diaphisis. The data processing is done after Snedecor and Cochran (1967). The correlation between the weight of carcasses and the weightand length of femur and humerus was high - positivelysignificant. The greater diameter and circumference of diaphysis, both offemur and of humerus, in Hywere the ground of the difference.

Summary: The meatiness of the carcass was investigated in two groups of hogs. The hogs were progenies of the three AB hypor boars which were mated with CD hypor sows (total 49 hogs) and the same AB hypor boars were mated with Swedish landrace sows (total 42 hogs) The first boar (A) had 23 (13 of CD sows + 10 of the SL sows), the second boar (B) 22 (9 of CD sows + 13 of SL sows) and the third boar C 46 (27 of CD sows + 19 of SL) dissected progenies. The progenies of the CD sows had significantly higher percentage of muscle tissue in the carcass than progenies of the SL sows, 54,8 and 52,08 respectively. Hower, the progenies of boar B(9+13) were not signifficantly different, even the progenies of swedish landrace sows had 0.81 higher percentage of muscle tissue in the carcass, but differences were not significant. The progenies of the second boar (B) and the swedish landrace sows had signifficantly higher percentage of muscle tissue than progenies of boar A. The percentage of muscle tissue of the progenies were not statisticaly significant within the group of CD hypor sows.

Summary: The proportions of the tissues in the carcasses and the energetic composition of carcasses of pigs have been analyzed, and their effect on economic efficiency of pigmeat production in Croatia and Developed European Countries. The relationship of muscle and fatty tissues in the carcasses are 1,59:1 and 2,3:1 in Croatia ad in the Developed European Countries there are significant losses computed on the basis of 2,5 mil carcass of pigs. According to difference in values of tissues, the loss is 93.125 mil DEM, also 11,5 mil DEM loss has been computed on the basis of energetic equivalent of corn. Therefore the production of the same mass of muscle tissue will need more hogs and more capacities for the rearing and fattening. In Croatia the very small size of family farms will be alimiting factor for improvement of genetic basis of pigs.

Summary: State of livestock production and size of husbandry farms have beeen analysed, along with reasons which caused such state. Situation that has been established makes it impossible for livestock production in Croatia to cope with international competition;therefore reducing of protection measures to conditions of GATT or EU will present livestock production in Croatia with a difficult process. Changing present situation will be slowed down by impossibity of creating domestic capital for investing in enlargement of farms and increase of their productivity

Summary: The distribution of muscular, fatty and bony tissues in the belly-rib part of Swedish Landrace and Hypor pigs, as well as that distribution in the Hamburg bacon, were investigated. An analysis of the meat percentage in half carcasses and classification of the half carcasses after EEC regulation. Nr. 3220/84 have shown that the half carcasses with a greater meat percentage contain more muscular tissue in the belly-rib part. Within the same class of half carcasses the belly-rib part in Hypor pigs contains more muscular tissue than that in Swedish Landrace pigs, but the difference is significant in the U class only. In the Hamburg bacon, in Hypor pigs 538 g. and in Swedish Landrace pigs 919 g fatty tissue and skin is found on 1 kg muscular tissue.

Summary: According to FAO data the meat production in Croatia in 1993 was as follows cattle 38000 tons, pork 135000 tons, poultry meat 75000 tons and mutton 2000 tons. It was not sufficient for home consumption, and domestic demand can stimulate home production. Cattle production cannot be increased quickly because of its bad structure. Pork production falls considerably behind the efficacy in developed countries. Due to the uncertainties regarding protective measures the speed of increasing the quality and efficiency of pork production will be the decisive factor of future pork meat production in Croatia. Poultry meat production has attained a high technological level and probably will sustain future integration in the world market.

Summary: By mating three boars of the Hypor AB-line with sows of the Swedish Landrace and the Hypor CD-line six subgroups, respective two groups of fattened pigs were produced. After slaughtering the weight and length of halves carcasses were measured and the right half of them dissected to the method of Weniger. The following parametres have been analyzed: the weight and length of halves carcasses, the share of muscular tissue in them, the share of muscular, fatty and bony tissues in loin, and surface of m.l.d. Significant differencies of the length of carcass of the descendants of the B boar amounting to 85.5**cm and to 82.3**cm respective caused the fleshiness of halves carcasses (53.9% and 53.1% respective) and of loin (56.2% and 55.6% respective). At the same time positive correlation and regression coefficients between the fleshiness and the length of halves carcasses within the groups have been established.

Title: HEREDITY OF RELATIONSHIP TISSUES IN PIGS
    Faculty: Agronomski fakultet u Zagrebu
    Author: AGANOVIĆ IZET
    Date of defense: 02/17/93
    Language: hrvatski

Summary: Investigated was carried out by completly randomized design ondifferent selected pigs at the groups A(swedish landrace),C(hypor) and their crosses of the group B(AB hypor x swedishlandrace). At the slaughter line have been measured length of thecarcass, and by A.J.Weninger method of dissection measuredproportions of muscle, fat, bone tissues in the carcass andproportions the these tissues in the carcass as and in the partsof carcass. The coefficients of correlations and regressions were negativelybetween the portions of the muscle and fat tissue in the carcassand in the parts of carcass, but positive correlations andregression were between muscle and bony and negative between fatand bony tissues. Different aditive (VA) and phenotypic (VP) variance wereestimated in groups at muscle, fat and bony tissues as influenceof the different methods of selection
