Summary: Republic of Croatia has some hundred thousends hectars of low production areas(meadows,and pasture ground). There is a problem how to make good use of this areas and what kind of animals races and crossbreeds are the optimal. Diferent horse breeds are suitable for such purposes. Researches are making about the results of crossing home and imported coldblood (heavy races) stallions with different breeds of mares, especialy in extensively pasture holding during season spring-late autum. Researches included: Fertility of mares, problems in birth, birthweights of foals in the moment of birth and with 6 and 12 month, diferences between foals and andult animals and adaptability of crossings for future production Production results are measured and statisticaly alaborated, compared among races and parents animals. Some scientifical organisations are incluted in program.
