Summary: Maize is the predominating crop in Slavonia and Baranja.
The tendencies in maize production are given in tables and diagrams. The
results of this analysis can serve as a basis for the study of the effect
of agratian policy on maize production. Tendencies in production,
purchasing and marketability of maize produced on private farms in Slavonia
and Baranja are compared with those in Croatia. The participation of
Slavonia and Baranja in the total producion and purchasing of maize on
private farms in the Republic of Croatia has been calculated and it is
concluded that the agrarian policy should be more selective. Selective
measures would enable better utilization of the comparative advantages of
this region.

Summary: The development of industry in Slavonia and Baranja is
accompanied by a process of stratification of villages. The employment
structureof members of farming households changes constantly and trerefore
the knowledge of these changes is essential for the understanding of the
economic power of private farms. The existing situation can be accurately
interpreted by analyzing the interdependence of deviation of some
characteristic, i.e. the deviation from the concentration of all members of
farming households within each group at a certain period (1990).

Summary: Insigh into the socioeconomic characteristics of family
farms is inportant for the establishment of a suitable developmental
policy, especially now, when the Croatian village is adaptin to new
conditions. The autohors use officioa statistical data and the results
obtainde from a questionnaire. They analyze income from outside
agriculture, the ownership structure with regard to the time when the farm
was formed, average farm size, the land market and land tenancy, crop
structure, breeding stock and stock producion and whether the basic
agricultural product are intended for the market. They found that the
average size of farms in eastern Croatia is gently increasing, wheresa the
average size od family farms in Croatio as a whole is decreasing. There are
also differences in crop structure, stock producion and the degree of
market producion between Slavonia and Baranja, i.e. eastern Croatia, and

Summary: The indispensability of stock raising intensification comes
from the particularity of this production regarding the nutiotion of
population, more rational and high quality utilization of the agricultural
land full and equal employment of agriculturists. The emphasis on the need
for as great engagement of stock raising sa possible in the structure of
agricultural production on the family farms is also significant for the
high share of family farming in the agriculture of the Republic of Croatia
according to the share in the agricultural area, agricultural labour force,
tecnical equipment and foundation stock funad.
Through the analysis of the basic factors of agricultural activity of
Slavonia and Baranja family farms, the insufficient presence of stock
raising in establisdhed comparing the availabe producion and technical
capacities in the agricultural production structure of these farms.
The insufficient representation of some stock kinds, inappropriate breed
components and insufficient vendivbility is mainly the reflection of the
generally unfavourable producion movements on the famili farms.
