Summary: Tourism is a very striking phenomena in the present processes of great social and economical transformations. It is also very controversal activity in the Mediterraneean area which is spreading irrepressibly, extensively taking over big parts of landscape at the same time forming emphasised linear development along the sea coast. Those trends greately influence traditional spatial organisation of production and inhereted landscape values of the Mediterraneean ambience. In the very sensitive environment of the Mediterraneean region, optimal planning could be achieved only by forming summary of coastal landscape values. This should be done using appropriate planning procedures which will discover characteristics, contents and patterns of the landscape and its values according to different social interests. This goals should be reached by every form of planning environmental development. Procedures which will be used in establishing the values in process of environmental development should give the possibility for the explicite, clear and repeatable process as real informative democratic process. Application of computer techniques enables establishment and use of environmental information system as environmental planning instrument which is better,more effective and cheaper for realisation of modern methodological procedures in planning environmental development ecologically oriented.

Research goals: The main goal of this research is to investigate all present special values of the sea coast as well as its potential development possibilities including possible consequences that would be caused by realisation of the present spatial plans. The results should be the basis for creating procedures of the coastal spatial development and also the basis for testiong the succesfullnes of the alternate possibilities in making the ecologically harmonised concept of tourism development. Contribution of this work is in new oriented ecologically harmonised process of spatial planning, and including the rational land use within which the basis for the selective approach in using of the coastal land will be formed. It is protection oriented environmental planning which corrects and directs new forms of land use, so that they whould be more efficacious and at the same time protect the landscape or generates new environmental values. Results of this research project should give the basis for formulation of the procedures for better harmonised economical development,which is based on the fact that the prospect of the human society can't be based only on its development,without having strategy of economically succesful but ecologically and cultural based development, in spite of possibly reached short term economical profit.
