Summary: Main subject of the project is stabilization and
development policy and its relation to the transformation and transition
processes of the Croatian economy. The contents of the project is, as
follows: a) restructuring and privatization policy in the development
strategy (banking system, fiscal system and policy, liberalization
policy); b) banking system and monetary policy in the formation of saving
and capital accumulation; interest rate and exchange rate policy; c)
inflation and growth collapse under the conditions of dissolution of
former Yugoslav economy and war; d) long-term strategy of economic
development and projections of basic macroeconomic variables (gross
domestic product, employment, exports and imports of goods and services,
balance of payments). The aim of the project is to offer the policy-makers
analytical studies in the process of formulating current and medium-term
development policy.

Research goals: The purpose of this project is to undertake
theoretical analysis and to formulate, on the basis of statistical data
and other kinds of information, study basis forpolicy-makers in the
process of establishing stabilization and development strategy. The aim of
the project is to support efficient economic restructuring, recovery and
development. The research results are: study basis for the privatization
policy in the process of economic development; transformation of the
socialist reproduction system into financial marketsystem; theory and
policy of transition of a centrally planned socialist system into the
market-oriented economic system; relationships between fiscal and monetary
policy in an ex-socialist system; fiscal reform in the Croatian economy;
stabilization and liberalization policy in the Croatian economy; stages in
the development strategy of Croatia; projections of gross domestic
product growth, its distribution and use; the role of banking and monetary
system in the process of economic recovery and growth; foreign exchange
rate policy, trade policy and the competitiveness of the economy; problems
of financing working capital in the recovering and development process;
anti-inflation policy and economic activity (money stock, money velocity,
