Summary: The article deals with tourism in towns which are both
traditional generators as well as destinations of visits thanks to the
concentration of attractions: sites and events. Urban tourism, particularly
in historical settings, shows a number of common characteristics deriving
from a culturally motivated demand and valuable man-made resources.
Cultural tourism draws attention not only of tourism experts and urban
planners, but also of international organizations and interdisciplinary
gathe-rings. Due to the fact that towns attract masses, they are faced with
serious problems of managing visitors flows. They are, furthermore,
supposed to assess physical and social carrying capacities. Practical
solutions in that direction are still in an experimental phase. Since urban
tourism will be increasing in the years to come, an adequate tourism policy
has to be adopted, particularly in the field of marketing. It should
promote the product quality and a specific image of the city. Most cities
stimulating the tourism sector as a major strategic option include it in
their development plans as a suitable means for enhancing their artistic
and cultural heritage.

Summary: Measuring the attractiveness of various tourism destination
in Croatia is a very important task in achieving a better position on the
market. In this article the authors present the results of the survey
conducted in touristically most developed Croatian countries. ANOVA and
importance-performance analysis were applied to identify the main
advantages and drawbacks which according to guests' opinion make difference
between the countries. The correlation between socio-demographic variables
and tourists' attitudes was also analyzed. In this way the results of this
survey can be used in defining the marketing strategy, starting from
tourist product definition to positioning of the product and an effective
promotion policy. In conclusion the authors stress a need for the
continuity in measuring destination atractivness in Croatia.

Summary: The author summarize the main constituents of a
contemporary definition of the term - tourism destination. Starting from
this definition he, in particular, elaborates another term - the tourist
resort - in other words any kind of locality suitable to meet by means of
its own resources a specific demand. Furthermore, he presents the
theoretical framework of the so-called destination research and illustrates
graphically classifications of destinations. What he points to in
particular is the choice of destinations and the satisfaction the
individual tourist derives from this. The necessity to observe permanently
various trends on the tourism market is also underlined. The completely
changed attitude of tourist toward destinations calls for an overall
reflexion on the traditional concept. This represents one of the primary
interests of Croatia who aims at a more profitable market position and the
elimination of the inherited image of a low-price destination.

Summary: In its evolution tourism has placed an emphasis on
different marketing functions. The phase in which it is today is
characterized by a balanced use of all marketing instruments. The initial
tourism company oriented marketing has due to competition on the tourism

Summary: Tourism and culture are interlinked phenomena. Cultural
heritage viz. man-made resources are essential elements of any modern
tourist supply and their economic importance is increasing. In the
continental parts of Croatia the impact of culture on tourism has been
neglected causing a general underdevelopment of the tourist sector in

Summary:
Croatia disposes with significant number of camps, but nearly all of them
are located on the Adriatic coast. Camping tourism in the hinterland is
neglected, because such camps serve only for transport purpose. Global
development of ecological awareness influenced the increased interest for
tourism in the hinterland, and therefore for such camping. Croatia should
take the example of Austria and Italy, the countries with significant
supply of hinterland camps.
