Summary: The phenomenology of the tourist destination includes a scientific interdisciplinary research aiming at a new understanding of tourism linked to a more efficient destination management. Research consists of six mutually related subject areas, i.e. types of destination structures, elements of destination taken as public goods and particularly the character and meaning of specific yield in tourism. Research is also being done to assess the influence of tourism on socio-cultural structures with regard to destination changes. Furthermore, a couple of other issues have been discussed: planning methods in tourist destinations, desired profiles and behaviour of destinations, as well as measurement of economic impacts within destination.

Research goals: Since the interdisciplinary approach to the theoretical researchon the influences, roots and effects of the tourism on the destination is neglected, there is obvious deficiency of the general knowledge about phenomenology of the tourist destinations. The aim of this research is to theoretically establish and analyze the essential phenomenological aspects of the tourist destination, or in other words to examine determination, stipulation and the destination's profile, it's structure, it's market conduct and the system of managing the destination. In the framework of this research a special attention is directed toward the smaller local communities and regions and toward the sensitive spatial units. Further on, the aim of this research is to establish the basic principles ofchange of destination in connection with general trends and the patterns of the development and to examine the particularity of the tourism's impact in relation to other elements of the development. The researches on this Project result with the new high qualitycontribution to the theory of tourism in the domain of theeconomical, sociological and anthropological researches, and theycreate the new interdisciplinary knowledge as the shyntetizedbase for more complete managing of the tourist destination in theconditions of Mediterranean's and Croatia's tourism. Because ofthe long-term characteristic of this research it should beextended for one more research cycle.
