    Summary: Is this paper it has been pointed out to the correlation betweenthe movements of the economic and social development. Analyzing the social development in the area of the Rijeka -Istrian region i,n the period from 1980 to 1988., it has beenestabilished that it was denoting all the characteristics andtendencies recorded in the economic development, and that meansstagnation and lagging. It has been particularly pointed out thatthe relatverly low level of wantes satisfaction, and especiallyin certain components of the social development, may become anobstruction to the economic development. That is why it is woreth while to be guided in the conception andstrategy of the future social development with the knowledge thatit does not mean only the social policy as a corrective of theeconomic policy but also the fact that the quality of life and ahigher level of satisfying educational, cultural and healthservices will more expressively be a condition and determinant ofthe economic development, and not exclusively it consequence.

    Summary: With the purpose of more effective activity of tourism inCroatia, I have found it opportune to point to some apparentlysmall omissions, which in pratice have brought big damage to thetourist activity and creating anti-publicity to the Croatiantourism. With the coming of the long desired demacracy, by the definitionof the real wwner of the social property and by thetransformation of our ineffective tourist enterprises, we shouldcome to new social relations, which will initiate a new swing ofthe Croatian tourism. It has been fogotten that in tourism and catering machines havenever been the most important elements, but people and theirrelations and behavior in communication with guests. The supplystructure as well the structure of the activity itself dependsupen people, their knowledge and skill, and only in this way richtourist and catering supply in accordance with the conterporarytourist standard could be achived. Comparing this paper with th epoll "Tomas" conducted by theInstitute for Tourism in Zagreb, it can be understood that italso dealt with the indetification of problems which I have alsotried to expose in this work.

    Summary: Catering is a prerequisite for tourism development. Croatia scatering is out of date and underveloped. Catering, includingtheservices offered, is of a low standard. Our catering is notsufficiently competitive. One of the reasons for this is an outdated system of classification.     Summary: Risks is one of the most significant factors of the Croatianmulti-banking system which, within the framework of short termcredit transactions, acts as a link between the independent banksand companies or other organisations. Credit ransactions, as arule always involve a cretainamount of risk. Therefore, bankstend to act rationally, either by making maximum eforts to avoidrisks whenever possible or by reducing such possibilities toacceptable limits. In this way unnecessary expenditures, whichdetrimentally affectthe profitabilty of a bank, can beavoided.Moreover the probability of failures in the payment of due loansand interest rate is thus reduced as, otherwise, the liquidity ofthe bank may be seriously jeopardized. Likewise, a rationalconduct of banks reduces the possibility of non payment of loansgranted, since such situations may aggravate the bank solvency onthe long run. Lack of such reasoning in the past has haddetrimental effects upon the financial system in Croatia, leadingunder certain circumstances even to its destabilization.

The firstphase is represented by activities concetrated on one sole typeof product (mono product of the enterprise) where the volume ofbusiness is baased upon theextension of the market quota. Thesecond phase is represented by the integrated developmend of theenterprise (mono sector enerprise) comprising the expansion of asingle sector of the enterprise through the extension ofproduction and sale of the product and mutually interrelatedservices. The third phase is chasaracterized by thediversification of business operation involving businessinterventions in other relatively unknown sectors, especially inthe field of marketing. The last phase is reflected in theinternational development of enterprises, which in ahcieved whensuch enterprises have elevated their respective management andresources to the levels and standard recognized worldwide. The international market development and the global rise ofdemand have created heavy competition all over the wordld,jeopardizing the survival of non competitive producers. The newbusiness goals, which override all the national and continentalborders, increase the need for a quick and efficiendmultidimensional development of enterprises.

It is easy to grow onoak or beach wood and is easy to dry up and conserve There are Shii take growing at plants in Rijeka, Istria andGorski Kotar. The analyzed samples of ashii take taken nearbyRijeka from a beach wood consisted from 4,34% of proteins, 76,67%of water, 0,64% of fat, 4,05% of fibres and 3,28% of sugar.There were a lot of mineral substances present, but the mostsignificant were potassium with 5,034 ppm and sodium with 261ppm. Regarding high food and healing capabilities of shii take it isnecessary to present it in the tourism in Croatia.
