Summary: The sectors of Croatian economy which are based on exploiting the sea, no matter what the level of development is, are considered to be the key factors of post-war reconstruction and carriers of overall socio-economic development. Companies of maritime economy build their interrelationship and economic dependance on the maritime market where special markets have appeared. These markets are interdependant so that the conditions and movement on any of them influences the others. Applying marketing concepts in maritime economy is vital prerequisite of market efficacy. However, the use of marketing is still underdeveloped in operating these companies. It has specific features taking into consideration the uniqueness of business operations in maritime economy. During 1993, 1994 and 1995 research workers have worked on macroaspects, i.e. socio-economic conditions of Croatian maritime economic development. They are as follows: Economic factors; The influence of technical-technological factors of development of Croatian maritime economy; Institutional factors of the development of Croatian maritime economy; Croatian maritime economy marketin redefinition; Maritime marketing- a factor in market valuation of Croatian maritime orientation.

Research goals: 1. Finding out features of international movements of goods - their sea routes; world, regional, among countries as a market and marketing activities of a company of the Croatian maritime economy. 2. Defining features of maritime market and analyzing specitic features of a particular market. The work-out consists of overall analysis of present and potential market of a company of the Croatian maritime economy. 3. Conditions of postindustrial technological development and interaction of companies in the world market constellation are marked with the era of marketing. These conditions require definitions of maritime marketing features with the company's aspect of planning and management functions. Elaboration contains: information on basic marketing; planning and strategy of marketing; elements of mix marketing; marketing control; organizational execution of marketing in a company. However, marketing is still underdeveloped in business operations of these companies. It has specific features considering the activities of maritime economy.
