Summary: The Croatian legal terminology after two very very important events is beying analyzed. In 1918 the Croats and Serbs formed a common state and in 1945 the socialist system was introduced. After that a strong serbization of Croatian Literary Language takes place and under the Serb influence many other foreign words which were common in the Serbian language, enter into Croatian. Some terms specific for socialism are formed. We try to compensate this by offering adequate terms. In the Croatian system many synonimous terms coexist. We try to select terms which are terminologically and linguistically more adequate and more typical for the Croatian tradition.

Research goals: The goal of the project is to create as good a system of Croatian legal terminology as possible based on the Croatian tradition and open to new needs. A great deal of preparatory work has been completed.
