Summary: The research will encompass a reading of significant
determinants of Croatian identity: in religious affiliation, shrines and
religious formation; in individual motivation towards various literary and
visual arts and personal design of articles and symbols of national
identity; in perception of subjectivity relating to public law, basic
political institutions and principles of society; and finally the
contribution of Croatians to Western European culture.
Keywords: Culture, community, culturl identity, political subjectivitiy, values
Research goals: The primary goal of the research is to determine the
particular characteristics of the Croatian cultural (ethnic) community and
its political subjectivity - through which Croatians create a particular
and special cultural community, that is, the elements of Croatian culture
that make it particular and differentiate it from others, and through
which the Croatian people maintained their identity through history. This
research will also determine which institutions and customs enabled the
continuity of Croatian culture as a political subject in history. Based
upon a clear perspective of Croatian cultural identity and factors which
enabled the survival of the Croatian community through history, this
research will determine what significant characteristics must be nurtured
and protected for the future of the Croatian community - what direction
political aspirations, educational policy, and various religious
manifestations should take, as well as the preservation of appropriate
institutions and related customs. Other information about the project.
