Summary: In the world today there is a growing use of interactive multimedia systems in education, science and art. The multimedia system enables the theoretical and practical expertise of architecture, film and art to find and expose their mutual coordinates within one medium. If a direct link is established with other multimedia centres, the local expertise can be enriched with the knowledge from other centres in the world. We believe that such a system would offer the users a simultaneus and easy acsess to a rich source of different information interrelated in a complex manner that would inspire a creative research into the material and enhance their power of perception. Within the project three themes will be developed as separate modules (architecture, painting, art) which would be interconnected to offer, based on analogy, a dynamic comparative analysis of similar problems.

Research goals: The real power of multimedia starts when several different presentations are linked by thematical analogies into a whole, in which the user can find, lead by analogy, similar characteristics in different specialized domains. Through comparison and analysis new knowledge is generated. Such a multimedia environment advances intellectual curiosity, expands the users knowledge and enhances his creativity. The aim of the interdisciplinary research is multiple. - To analyze the development and define the optimal technological base for the application of multimedia. - To analyze the characteristics and define the rules of non-linear narration within this new media, that enables complex structuring of different sources of information on the basis of associative reasoning. - To investigate the application possibilities of multimedia in the interdisciplinary exploration within different artistic domains (architecture, art, film) and their interactions. - As a part of the project, apart from the published reports, we plan to create three multimedia presentations. Each would be a separate module but would have numerous thematic links with other modules. - In the last year we would test the effect of non-linear narration by offering the multimedia application to a number of users - of different profile, age, knowledge and computer literacy. Based on the results we will modify the application and make suggestions on the use multimedia.
