Summary: The basic purpose of the presented research project ih an analyses of social processes which generate social problems. Furthermore, the intention is to set the critical evaluation of former model of social policy, up-to-date trends in social policy and to form the tended model of our social policy in next period. Social workers action on solving concrete social problems come from the social situation and social policy. This research must scientifically invent it. Research team starts from the presumed fact that our society entered into a period of serious and long-lasting social reconstructions which have to be scientifically monitored and thus prepare an efficient way of overcoming harmful consequencies.

Research goals: The main purpose of the research is a scientific analyses and identification of social problems which appear in Croatian society in a proces of market and civil society constituing, in specific conditions of war and postwar period, on the one hand, and critical evaluation of social activities, which are subject of social policy activity and social work, intended for overcioming those social problems, on the other hand. Full purposes of the research are presented in a document called "The proposal of the scientifically developed research" which is sent to the Ministry in 1991.
