Summary: Tha author analyses the new theoretical paradigms
attempting to answer the following question: how does the fall of communism
affect the future of the world? It is concluded in the paper that neither
approach in itself contains the key to the solution of the riddle of world
history, but neither of the approaches could be said to be mistaken or
completely wrong. Theser paradigms indicate in a way, the possible
directions of Croatia... a part of the postcommunist turbulent Balkans and
continue to be regarded by authors such as Kaplan and Fukuyama as part of
the so-called Third World, or will it choose economic, industrial and
political modernization and thus leave the uncertain and chaotic
post-communist reality to join the prosperous "caravan" nearing the liberal
"end of History"?
